For publishers
The words already in your articles are the inventory. A publisher adds one script, chooses which part of a page it may read, and keeps 70 % of what advertisers pay for the campaigns that run on those pages.
What a reader sees
Words that already appear in an article get a light dotted underline. Hovering on a desktop, tapping on a phone, or pressing Enter on a keyboard opens a small bubble. It holds an "Ad" label, a headline of at most 40 characters, a body of at most 90, the advertiser's display domain, one link, and a small "Ads by AdBubbles" mark. Nothing appears until the reader acts, and the bubble closes on mouse-out, on Escape, or on a tap outside it.
Every link in a bubble carries rel="sponsored noopener". The bubble is rendered inside a Shadow DOM, so your stylesheet and the bubble's cannot affect each other, and it follows the reader's reduced-motion and colour-scheme settings.
What you control
Three settings belong to the publisher. The first is the scope, the part of a page the embed may scan, such as the article element or the entry-content container. The second is the maximum number of bubbles on one page. The third is the list of advertiser categories to exclude, on top of the ones AdBubbles prohibits everywhere: gambling, adult, weapons, cryptocurrency, supplements, and political.
Inside the scope the embed skips headings, links, code, preformatted text, form controls, navigation, header, footer, and anything you mark data-noads. It underlines the first occurrence of each bought word, opens at most one bubble per word, and never puts two in the same paragraph.
What you earn, and how it is worked out
Publishers keep 70 % of what advertisers pay for the campaigns that run on their pages; AdBubbles keeps 30 %. A campaign's share is divided among the sites it ran on in proportion to bubble opens, and accrues daily. An open is a bubble that stayed visible for one second.
Payouts go through Stripe Connect, monthly, in your own currency, to an account you control. Earnings accrue from the first live day whether or not that account is connected yet.
Nothing is collected about your readers
AdBubbles sets no cookie, stores no identifier, and collects no personal data from readers. The embed sends three kinds of beacon: one view per page load, one open when a bubble has been visible for a second, and one click when a link is followed. Nothing else leaves the page. Country is read from a request header rather than from a stored address, and raw events are deleted after 30 days. The privacy policy sets this out in full.
Getting started costs nothing
A publisher account and the embed are free. Add a site, verify it by a DNS TXT record, a meta tag, or an uploaded file, and request a crawl: it reports which words on the site are currently sellable, before any bubble appears anywhere.
